if you count 1 234, …
if you count 1 234, 1234, 1234, 1234, beat “1″ is the down beat. technically 1,2,3, and 4 are all down beats and the 1/2 beat in between all 4 are up beats.
Ex: 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and. The “and” is the up beat, the number is the down beat
Generally beat “1″ is the down beat that people most commonly refer to.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are running Logic Studio Pro 9, this is not a default key command. To modify the key command follow these steps:
1. Go to PREFERENCES > KEY COMMANDS.
2. Type split in the search area.
3. Select Split Regions/Events by playhead position.
4. Select Learn by Key Label.
5. Hit the / key.
6. De-select Learn by key label and close the key command menu.
After these simple steps, you should be good to start chopping!

Just one error. By …
Just one error. By chopping the waveform you’re not always chopping at a zero-crossing so when you play-back the sample in the EXS 24 you’ll just get a pop at the start of the sample. I always chop the waveform then apply a very fast fade-in and fade-out in the inspector window to ensure that the sample starts and ends at a zero-crossing. This does mean that you’ll have to render the fade-in/fade-out before importing into the EXS 24.

Ok its all good i …
Ok its all good i figured it out. The problem was that there was no key command assigned to the split region by playhead position position function and once i re-learned how to assign key commands i figured it out. I think its because im not using a desktop keyboard that the key command wasnt already assigned.

I heard him wrong, he said it defaults to split region. I went to key commands and found the split region by playhead position function but there is no key command assigned to it and its not letting me assign one. its really frustrating.

I tried that, Ive …
I tried that, Ive tried everything, i even tried looking up the divide region key command but still couldn’t find it, then I started looking for other commands like slice region but still couldnt find anything. Last night i selected the track and hit every button on my keyboard and still cant find it. I think the problem is that im using a laptop keyboard and the key command must be different on this keyboard.
