What is the best way to collect samples to culture on petri dish with agar?

Posted in samples  by: admin
January 31st, 2010

My son is doing a science project to determine which "animal" has the dirtiest mouth. We have sterile cotton swabs to collect the samples. Do we need to put them in a sterile saline solution first, or will the saliva be wet enough to get a good sample? Also, is it best to rub the swab on the agar or roll it on–does it really matter which method is used? Thanks in advance!

I wouldn’t put them in saline–salt inhibits some bacteria growth by dehydrating their little insides.

Use a bit of distilled water if you feel the need, but saliva should be wet enough.

I don’t guess rub vs. roll makes much difference–just don’t rip the petri jell-o stuff.

How much does producing samples for a product cost?

It’s for a marketing project. I am doing on shampoos. I was thinking of distributing the shampoo samples in magazines and such, how much does it cost?

Your cost per sample x circulation no. of magazine.
Mostly magazine distributed about 8000 – 10000 units or more…
It might be better to do the advertorial and giveaway as promotion for the one who answer the question correctly and get your product as its reward. It might be cheaper. By this, the customer aware of your brand name.

Can video games be considered a job search expense?

Posted in job search  by: admin
January 31st, 2010

I saw the tax commercial where the person questioned if a haircut was a job search expense. I’m trying to get a job being a video game reviewer, but to do that I need to buy video games new when they come out. I was wondering if in some crazy tax world that buying video games would qualify as a job searching expense.

Don’t make plans.

Hello,

Does anyone know of very good samples of a cover letter for aircraft engine mechanic?

Many thanks.
Hi,

I was referring to any good samples of Cover Letter for an Aircraft Engine Technician (A&P or any other organizations). Any samples will do.

Thanks.

To answer your question, I happen to have samples letter on my aviation web site at: http://www.stacheair.com
Click on Mechanic’s Tool Box, and then look in A&P Authorizations this will give you a good idea of what to list.

Just for everyone education Airframe and Powerplant are mechanic rating, that are referred to as certificates NOT licenses. This can be found in 14 Title 49 US Code Part 65, subpart D.

What type of resume do I make if I have never worked before?

Posted in resume  by: admin
January 31st, 2010

Other than volunteering, I have never been employed and I want to get a job and upload a resume. What type should I write and do you know what website has a great example of one?

Thank you all so very much!

As an applicant who possesses no previous experience writing down an entry level resume can prove to be difficult. Remember you’re starting with a clean slate and that alone is a great advantage.

When you start writing your resume, first take note of your entry level resume objective.Do you see yourself as qualified for the job, if so, then make that specific position your objective and lay out your resume with that objective in mind.

Your entry level resume should be function oriented, by this I mean that you should concentrate more on showing your capabilities, skills and specific abilities. You cannot yet boast about accomplishments so try to balance that out with other aspects. Like your ability to adapt, you capability to work as in a team environment, and other traits that you think will be of benefit to the company if they hire you.

Place your educational background, certificates, academic achievement somewhere on the top of your resume. Followed by your skills and knowledge, like the program languages you know how to use or specific mechanical skills you know. You can also include anything that you learned outside of school, like knowing how to speak other languages, or self taught technical skills. It is important that your format your resume so that these thing will easily be noticed.
