I recently got laid off so now im back on the job hunt again but i haven’t been getting the responses i been expecting. I did a free resume critique and they found numerous things wrong with it and i agree. They want you to pay them to help you (but how can i pay if im unemployed). Is there a site that does this stuff for free? Also how important is a cover letter. Thanks.

I am applying for an Admin. Assistant position, and writing samples are requested. What sort of samples are appropriate? I’ve never been asked to provide a writing sample, and have no idea what is expected. I’ve tried contacting the company, but it is very large and I’ve yet to receive a response.

well maybe you should write different types of letter, because you are not sure, but i’m thinking more like memos, or a letter to a client on behave of your boss, or emails inviting employees to a semminar or special events.
they probably just want to see how professional you are and whats your wrting style.

my advice: it depends on where you are applying, write formal letters since you are applying to a big company, keep it very professional.
also you could try contacting thier Human resources office.

I might have to start job searching in a couple of months due to a potential layoff. I haven’t been in the job market for several years, and I know there are a ton of new job search websites out there since then. Used to be that Monster was pretty much it! I have a bachelor’s and about 20 years experience in the marketing/advertising field. I would appreciate recommendations for professional sites that offer more than just a bunch of entry-level stuff and bogus sales jobs.

I tried downloading through Firefox and opera but both of them failed.
I tried installing Free Download Manager but it does not catches the downloads.
